A
journey of a thousand miles, they say, begins with a step, and even
small steps can lead to great strides if they are taken in the right
direction.
This past spring, the hurricane protection industry, the International
Hurricane Protection Association and HP magazine took a step together
with the first World of Hurricane Protection Trade Show and Conference
(see our Show Report beginning on page 10). For the first time, the
industry had a two-day event dedicated solely to the issues and products
of hurricane protection, and it definitely was a step in the right
direction.
Is there room for improvement and growth? You bet! We have received
many comments and suggestions on how the show can be made even better,
and several of these ideas will lead to changes in next years
event planned for spring 2003 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Wed like
to thank all of those who have contacted us in the best interests
of the industry, along with those many others who participated in
the show: the exhibitors, seminar leaders, IHPA and attendees. The
World of Hurricane Protection had a good beginning, and it will continue
to grow as we build toward the future.
In the not-too-distant future, our next step is to put together the
industrys first directory: a list of hurricane protection product
manufacturers and suppliers as well as service and distribution sources.
Companies will be listed alphabetically (along with address and contact
names and information) and grouped in various product categories.
As this industry continues to grow, the Hurricane Protection Directory
will be an invaluable printed tool for doing businessone that
will always be kept handy by dealers as they look for new products
and suppliers. Getting your company listed in the directory is easy
and its free! Watch your mail as directory listing forms are
being sent now. Just complete the form and return it to be included.
Step by step, Hurricane Protection magazine will continue to grow
along with the industry it covers. There is a long, successful journey
ahead of us. In the meantime, feel free to contact us at the numbers
and e-mail addresses listed on the adjoining page. |
