BUILDEX,
Itasca, IL, announces its recently launched Tapcon XL has been approved by both Miami-Dade County (NOA 02-311.03) and SBCCI (Evaluation report 9759A). Tapcon XL is a new masonry anchor system designed to meet the unique challenges of storm protection along our coastal regions as well as heavy-duty masonry anchoring requiring high pullout values. Tapcon XL delivers all the benefits you have come to expect with the original Tapcon products with the added bonus of twice the holding power in poured concrete and hollow block. The hefty 5/16-inch anchor is available in 2 1/4- and 2 3/4-inch lengths to stand up to the arduous wind loads imposed on high-rise buildings during a hurricane. A high button head with a Torx‚ T-40 drive delivers stability during installation but conveniently avoids interference with the tracks of most of the high-rise accordion shutter extrusions. The new Tapcon XL also replaces sleeve anchors in many standard applications at a fraction of the cost.

Other benefits are increased light transmission and unobstructed air flow in the open position.

CAMERON ASHLEY BUILDING PRODUCTS
, Pompano Beach, FL, presents aluminum, clear and steel storm panels for the hurricane protection industry. Also available are accordion, Bahama, Colonial and roll-up shutters.

Fabric-Shield storm panels by WAYNE-DALTON protect windows and doors against hurricanes, but are completely different from steel and aluminum panels. Fabric-Shield Storm Panels are made of PVC-coated fabric tested to block wind, rain and storm-driven projectiles and meet stringent building code requirements. Fabric-Shield Storm Panels are much lighter than metal storm panels. This makes them easy to store as they can be rolled up, laid flat or hung. They do not have sharp edges to cause injury and no special tools are required for installation. They are available in standard and custom sizes.

INNOVATIVE PROTECTIVE PRODUCTS, LLC, Jensen Beach, FL, introduces SPLATS Hurricane Slats for roll-up shutters. An excellent alternative to conventional aluminum slat systems, SPLATS are engineered and manufactured with a polymeric composite material to withstand wind speeds of over 200 miles per hour. They require no painting, won’t chip or crack, and will not corrode like conventional aluminum. SPLATS are available in white, gray, almond and beige.

SUN-TEK offers the widest assortment of certified impact-rated skylights, available in both curb mount and self-flashing models, made of insulated glass or polycarbonate plastic.
